going back thru the archive of older ski-stuff. This being something from Switzerland, 2008 i believe. Just having a look-see from the top of the Schilthorn, and trying to decide which side to descend on. This was the beginning of a lap that saw another critical-decision-point arise, where we opted to NOT ascend a ridge with a subsequent descent into a neighboring valley. The opposite decision was made by a party of 3 to ascend the ridge, and 2 of the 3 never walked out of the valley.
We had warm and rapidly changing conditions (deteriorating), and we opted to bail after witnessing several larger-scale slides in the vicinity.
Big terrain is super-fun, but not ever worth the risk to get a shot in rapidly changing conditions.
